WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?

Gotta to love Tina Turner! When she came onto the scene back in the 60's with Ike, she was truly an artist before her time. Those legs alone were something to behold! It was only until late in her career did she experience the kind of fame and success that Ike could only dream of. If you've seen the autobiographical movie, "What's Love Got to Do with It," the turning point in the movie is when Tina discovered a "Higher power" and realized that what she thought love was had nothing to do with her inner peace and her destiny. She left Ike for a solo career and as they say, the rest is history. I recently had the opportunity to teach bible study on the topic of love, God's love. The Holy Spirit really gave me revelation into the fact that God's Love has everything to do with… everything. In 1 Corinthians chapter 1-13 the scriptures detail what real Love, the God kind of love, really looks in action. I realized as I meditated on this chapter, how incapable I am of this kind of love. On any given day, I find that I'm missing the mark. But our heavenly father in all of his infinite wisdom knew that, and provided his awesome grace. Grace assures me that even when my best attempt at love doesn't measure up, it is empowered by my weakness and his strength steps in and does the work (2 Corinthians 12:9). Like Tina, as I compared what I thought love was to the heavenly Father's love, I asked the same question, what does my concept of love that have to do with anything? What I thought love was has nothing to do with sacrifice, what I thought love was had nothing to do with patience, nothing to do with kindness, what I considered as love, always wanted something in return, it was judgmental and fundamentally selfish..So I realized I had to forsake everything that I thought about love and begin to walk in the father's love…Agape love, the only way to true inner peace and the destiny that Jehovah God has planned for you and me. Take an assessment of your love walk. If it doesn't line up with the love walk described in 1 Corinthians 13, ask yourself…what's love got to do with it!
